Oak Crest certified as a SHARP community by OSHA
DeKALB – Long-term care and services is one of the most highly-regulated fields in the nation. Ten years ago, DeKalb Area Retirement Center-Oak Crest leadership staff explored the possibility of entering SHARP (Safety Health Awareness and Recognition Program), a voluntary program offered through the Occupational Safety and Health Administration. SHARP encourages communication and cooperation between businesses and the state to improve the overall safety policies, procedures and practices in an industry often plagued with health-related accidents and injuries. A multi-faceted process, the program, when successfully completed, results in certification as a SHARP community.
