SYCAMORE – Twenty dancers with StudioM Dance Company in Sycamore traveled with their families to New York City for a five-day experience that included a performance at The Lincoln Center for Performing Arts.
The dancers toured the city, took in a Broadway show and presented an original, 30-minute Beatles tribute choreographed by studio owner and artistic director Lisa Morreale.
This is the studio’s third major travel experience. On past trips, dancers performed at Disneyland during Summer Dance Fest and aboard a Royal Caribbean cruise to Bermuda. Closer to home, StudioM dancers have performed in the Chicago Holiday Parade, at Lincoln Park Zoo, at the Sycamore Pumpkin Festival and at Raging Waves water park.
“I really don’t believe in dancers competing against each other, but I do believe in giving dancers as many outstanding performance opportunities as possible,” Morreale said. “StudioM’s trips are designed not just as a performance or vacation, but as a life experience. I hope that every dancer understands the magnitude of what they worked so hard for and how proud I am of them.”
