Senior health fair set July 25
DeKALB – State Rep. Robert Pritchard, State Sen. Dave Syverson, the Family Service Agency and the Voluntary Action Center will host the 2013 Senior Health Fair from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, July 25 at DeKalb High School, 501 W. Dresser Road in DeKalb. The fair is free and open to all.
“I encourage senior citizens, their caregivers, and anyone approaching retirement to come to the fair to visit with care providers and learn about their services that can improve your life,” Pritchard said. “While at the fair, senior citizens can take advantage of the numerous screenings and tests that are offered for free.”
Screenings offered at this year’s fair include spinal, blood pressure, vision and hearing. There will also be diabetes counseling and an amplified phone demonstration for the hearing impaired.
“I am excited to be a part of this year’s event and to see so many helpful vendors under one roof,” Syverson said. “Attendees will be amazed at the expanded number of vendors and the services they offer. Participants can register for a door prize, enjoy snacks and gather lots of information.”
“It is a pleasure for the Family Service Agency to join with Rep. Pritchard and Sen. Syverson for this year’s health fair,” said Diana King, director of senior services at the Family Service Agency. “I encourage seniors and their families to stop by our booth and learn about our many local senior centers, programs, activities and other services that we offer.”
