Prizes will be awarded to the children with the best "box cars" – cars made of cardboard boxes kids can sit in – before the start of Genoa Main Street's free outdoor family movie on July 27.

GENOA – Genoa Main Street Inc. will fire up the popcorn popper Saturday evening, July 27 for the first outdoor movie of the summer. “Up” will be shown at dusk in the municipal parking lot at the corner of Main and Genoa streets in downtown Genoa. Admission and popcorn are free.

“We are able to show this movie thanks to donations from Heartland Bank, Custom Aluminum Products and KishHealth System,” said Linda Underwood, Genoa Main Street president.

Heartland employees will host a “box car” contest before the movie. Children of all ages are encouraged to make a car they can sit in from a cardboard box. The cars can be made at home, or boxes and art supplies will be available on site. Children wishing to make a car the night of the movie should arrive at least half an hour before dusk. Heartland is providing gift cards as prizes for the best cars.
