Library program tells Titanic survivor’s tale
GENOA – Stewardess Violet Jessop survived the sinking of the Titanic, and, several years later, the sinking of the Britannic – the Titanic’s nearly identical sister ship. More than a century later, Genoa Public Library welcomes Leslie Goddard in a portrayal of Jessop’s remarkable life.
The free program will be at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 11. To accommodate the largest possible audience, this program will be held in the Resource Bank Community Room in Genoa, on Route 23 across from Ace Hardware.
Throughout the performance, Goddard remains in character as Jessop. Clever and articulate, she tells unforgettable stories of the tragedies from the compelling viewpoint of a crew member. The audience will also get a fascinating behind-the-scenes glimpse of the most glamorous luxury liner of the day.
