Family Sock Hop bounces around the ballroom
DeKALB – Just Make It Happen will present its annual Sock Hop on Saturday, July 20, in the Duke Ellington Ballroom at Northern Illinois University.
Out-of-pocket family costs have been reduced thanks to Kishwaukee Community Hospital’s $10 Dancing for Health scholarships for DeKalb County residents. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door.
The Sock Hop features the Shananigan Dance Combo, a dance guide, tables and optional BYO decorations. The Shananigan Combo will feature easy dance music with clean lyrics and familiar melodies at a safe volume.
People interested in volunteering can email firstname.lastname@example.org for available spots. Duties include registration, welcome escorts, and coordination of onstage visits so children can see and hear how dance music is created.
At the conclusion of the dance all decorations must be picked up by guests. Pop machines are located near the ballroom. No helium balloons are permitted.
Single or family groups are welcome at this mid summer air-conditioned dance at NIU’s historic Duke Ellington Ballroom. Groups that register together may bring leaflets for a complimentary display table.
