DeKALB – CCT of DeKalb continues its 2013 season of musicals with a four-performance run of “Grease” from June 28-30.
Friday and Saturday night performances are at 7 p.m., and 2 p.m. matinee performances are offered on Saturday and Sunday. All four performances will be in the Duke Ellington Ballroom, inside the Holmes Student Center, on the corner of Normal Road and Lucinda Avenue in DeKalb.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door before each performance. The box office will open one hour before show time.
Saddle shoes, pompadours, rock‘n’roll, chiffon scarves, muscle cars, poodle skirts, and sock hops are just a few of the treats in store for those attending the CCT production.
The kids think they rule the small town of Rydell. Danny, a member of the ultra-cool T-Birds, is only interested in cars, chicks and hanging out with his friends Kenickie, Sonny, Roger and Doody.
Then, there is Sandy, the new girl in school. Although she does not fit in with the Pink Ladies – Rizzo, Jan, Marty and Frenchy – they are quite interested in her summer romance with Danny. When Danny and Sandy are reunited, she is thrilled to see him again, but Danny is not sure how hanging out with a “good girl” will affect his carefully cultivated rebel image.
Written by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey, the musical features songs such as “Summer Nights,” “Greased Lightnin’,” “Hopelessly Devoted to You,” “Beauty School Dropout,” “You’re the One that I Want” and “We Go Together.”
