GENOA – Mike Walsh, a junior at Genoa-Kingston High School, recently achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank in scouting.

Mike is the son of Mike and Naomi Walsh of Genoa. He is a member of Genoa Troop 71, sponsored by the Masonic Temple.

Mike worked hard to earn the six ranks and 21 merit badges required to become an Eagle Scout. Eleven of the badges were based on his personal interests and provided him with valuable lifelong skills.

For his community service project, Mike buildt benches and planter boxes for the Genoa Township Park District swimming pool.

Mike is active in student council at GKHS and tutors elementary school students after school. He has worked at the Genoa pool as a lifeguard. He plans to pursue a career as a physical education teacher.
