Stories, music and games at fair fundraiser

Published: Tuesday, June 25, 2013 12:00 p.m. CDT

SYCAMORE – Well-known local storyteller Phyllis Horst will engage attendees of all ages at Meet Me at the Fair on July 20 at Pay-It-Forward House, 719 Somonauk St. in Sycamore.

Horst has been telling stories as a hobby for more than 20 years. With the help of her guitar, humor and bag of props, she will transport children and adults to a faraway place in their imaginations.

Meet Me at the Fair also offers food, live music, a huge silent auction and children’s games. This annual fundraiser helps support Pay-It-Forward House, a hospital hospitality house that provides a supportive and caring home-away-from-home for family and friends of patients receiving medical treatment in DeKalb County, especially at Kindred Hospital in Sycamore.

Meet Me at the Fair showcases old-fashioned family fun, while raising awareness and funding for the important mission of Pay-It-Forward House. The event will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday, July 20. There is no cost to attend. Call 815-762-4882 for more information.
