June Family Fun Day celebrates farm history
SYCAMORE – As the days get warmer and longer, everyone wants to get outside. Stop by the Sycamore History Museum on June 20 to discover, explore and experience the different aspects of farm life. The museum, located on a former farm, is the perfect spot for families to play outside and learn about the community’s agricultural roots.
The day will include a tour of the property showing where former outbuildings housed pigs, cattle and dairy cows. There will also be a visit to the gardens where visitors can learn about sustainable agriculture and taste some of the food growing in the kitchen garden. Scavenger hunts both inside and outside the museum will be available for those who like to be challenged. The afternoon will end with old-fashioned games. Junior docents will be around all afternoon to help with tours, activities, crafts and games.
The event is $5 per family, which includes admission to the current exhibit, “PLAY.” “PLAY” explores what people have done in Sycamore for fun over the years. There is also a hands-on room where children can play restaurant and dress-up.
