SYCAMORE – The 42nd annual Northern Illinois Art Show will be held Saturday and Sunday, June 1 and 2, on the lawn of the DeKalb County courthouse. This event is sponsored by the Kishwaukee Valley Art League, a nonprofit organization that was formed in 1972 to support the arts in the Kishwaukee Valley.
More than 50 artists and crafters will display and sell their work from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday. There are many new exhibitors this year and many returning from previous years.
The Art of Giving raffle of original works of art by members of the art league will return this year. There is no admission charge. Food and drinks will be available on the grounds, provided by Marcia Verhayhe of Marcia’s Junkyard Dogs in Sycamore.
Art that will be sold includes marker and pencil drawings; acrylic paintings; bird houses, bird feeders and yard decorations; wire and beaded jewelry; ceramic wind chimes; metal yard and garden sculptures; silk floral designs; hand-blown glass jewelry; silver jewelry and gifts; stoneware pottery; photography; clocks; duck calls; handcrafted wood items; egg art; memo boards; painted windows; decorated baked goods; hand-painted glassware; bows; gemstone jewelry; wood carving demonstrations; concrete leaves; gourd art; wood signs; fabric; leather; embroidered clothing; ceramics; stained glass; dichroic jewelry; crocheted afghans and clothing; sport photography; wood furniture; decorative wood decoys; soaps and scents; wall hangings; bags; scrubs, bath salts and balms; vinyl bowls; calligraphy; and reverse glass painting.
