• Kirkland Memorial Day Service

1 p.m. Sunday, May 26, at the Northern Illinois Veterans Memorial, Franklin Township Park, Kirkland.

• Mayors’ Memorial Day Breakfast

6:45 – 7:30 a.m. Monday, May 27, Jane Fargo Hotel, 355 W. State St., Sycamore. Tickets are $10 in advance or $15 at the door; RSVP to ffb66@juno.com or 815-758-5788. There will be a short program after the breakfast.

• Motorcycle Tour

Leaves at 7:55 a.m. Monday, May 27, from the Jane Fargo Hotel, 355 W. State St., Sycamore. The tour will go to the Joiner Cemetery service; at 8:30 a.m. travel to DeKalb; at 9:20 a.m. travel to Malta; and at 11 a.m. travel to Genoa.

• Joiner Cemetery Memorial Day Service

8:15 a.m. Monday, May 27, at Joiner Cemetery, west of Sycamore on West Old State Road just east of Five Points Road.

• Outdoor Mass

8:30 a.m. Monday, May 27, at St. Catherine’s Catholic Cemetery, Sycamore and Hill streets in Genoa. Those attending the Mass should bring their own folding chairs. If the weather is bad, the service will be held inside St. Catherine’s Catholic Church, 340 S. Stott St.

• DeKalb Memorial Day Parade and Service

8:30 a.m. Monday, May 27. Services will begin at the tank in Memorial Park, corner of North First Street and Lincoln Highway, at 8:30 a.m. The parade steps off from North Third Street and Lincoln Highway at 9 a.m. The parade will end at Ellwood House, 509 N. First St., at 9:30 a.m. for a program featuring a speaker, American Legion school awards and performances by the DeKalb High School chorus, the Firefighters Highland Guard and DeKalb high school and middle school marching bands. Ellwood House will offer free tours from 10 a.m. until noon.

• Lee Memorial Day Services

On Monday, May 27, American Legion Post 654 will conduct a brief service at Union Cemetery at 9 a.m., at First Lutheran Cemetery at 9:30 a.m. and at St. James Cemetery at 9:50 a.m.

• Malta Memorial Day Parade and Service

10 a.m. Monday, May 27, at Malta United Methodist Church, South Third and Sprague streets, Malta.

• Sycamore Memorial Day Parade and Service

10 a.m. Monday, May 27. The service will begin at the Sycamore Veterans Home, 121 S. California St., then there will be a parade to Elmwood Cemetery, and the service will conclude at the cemetery.

• Shabbona Memorial Day Service

10:15 a.m. Monday, May 27, at Prairie Crossing Nursing & Rehab Center, 409 W. Comanche Ave.

• Creston Memorial Day Service

10:30 a.m. Monday, May 27, at Woodlawn Cemetery. The program will include prayer, music, roll call, Taps, a tribute to living veterans and dedication of a new veterans memorial. The speaker for the service will be Brian Sawsville. Guest speakers for the dedication will be State Rep. Tom Demmer or his chief of staff, Creston Mayor Tom Byro and Chaplain Judy Williams. Attendees should bring their own seating.

In the event of very bad weather, services will be held at St. John's Lutheran Church on South Street in Creston.

• Waterman Memorial Day Service

11 a.m. Monday, May 27, at Lions Park.

• Genoa Memorial Day Parade and Service

11:30 a.m. Monday, May 27. The parade begins at South Genoa and West Main streets, then ends at the cemetery for a cemetery service at noon. A burger luncheon will be served at the Genoa Vets Home, 311 S. Washington St., at 12:30 p.m.
