Hiawatha honors student leaders

KIRKLAND – Hiawatha CUSD 426 eighth graders Madeline Dashney and Braden Watson were recognized at the 13th Annual Student Leadership Breakfast hosted by the Illinois Principal’s Association April 17.

Madeline and Braden were nominated by their teachers as good role models and selected by their principal, Jared Poynter, for exhibiting leadership, respectfulness, responsibility and positive attitude.

The students heard an inspirational speech by Dr. Alan Hoffman, superintendent of McHenry CUSD 15 and recipient of the Kishwaukee Region Superintendent of the Year Award, who spoke about the tools that students need to be leaders throughout their life.
