Bowling fundraiser to offset transplant costs

Published: Tuesday, April 2, 2013 2:28 p.m. CDT

Dawn Horn is a local woman who has completed her first round of treatment for mantle cell lymphoma and is preparing for the next step – a stem cell transplant. Horn has lived and worked in the DeKalb area her entire life, and her friends at Christ Community Church have organized a bowling fundraiser to offset transplant expenses not covered by insurance.

The event will be held from 6:30 to 11 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at Four Seasons Sports in Sycamore. The evening will include bowling, live music, food, raffles and door prizes. Tickets are $15 and can be purchased in advance at Land of Learning Child Care Center or by calling Ruth Wood at 815-756-6829. Tickets will also be available at the door.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to the North Central Stem Cell Transplant Fund at HelpHOPELive, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, earmarked for Horn's expenses. Donations can be made to the fund directly by visiting www.helphopelive.org and searching for Dawn Horn under Find a Patient.
