Flashlight egg hunt set
SYCAMORE – Tired of looking for eggs the old-fashioned way? Need a little challenge?
The Sycamore Park District will host its third annual Flashlight Egg Hunt at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 28 at the Sycamore Park Golf Course. Children of all ages are invited to participate.
"I used to do at it my old park district," Bart Desch, superintendent of the Sycamore Park District, said. "We're just trying to add a new event. Not everyone does this. It's a fun hour."
The evening will begin with a craft project inside the clubhouse, then outdoor games, such as an egg toss, before heading to the designated hunting area around the swimming pool. Desch said the children will be divided into two groups.
Two years ago, the first egg hunt drew 20 children; last year's drew 54.
"That was a big jump," Desch said, laughing. "We had to get more supplies."
Desch is asking those interested to register in advance to ensure adequate supplies. Tickets are $10 for residents and $15 for nonresidents.
Children should bring a flashlight and a bag and be prepared to gather eggs as fast as they can.
"All egg hunts are pretty much the same," Desch said. "They go pretty fast."
