Band concert 'By Request'

DeKALB – The Kishwaukee Concert Band will present “By Request” at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 10, in the Boutell Memorial Concert Hall. The all-volunteer band, made up of adults over the age of 18 who had played a wind or percussion instrument in the past, was formed in the fall of 2002 as a dream of Sue Huhta. The original name was The Greater Kishwaukee Area Symphonic Band.

Because of some confusion in the minds of the community, the name was changed to The Greater Kishwaukee Area Concert Band. Last January, the name of the band changed again to The Kishwaukee Concert Band. The band established a formal structure, an official board of directors and committees. Incorporating under the new name sets the stage to file for IRS nonprofit status.

“By Request” will include such favorites as “The Colonel Bogey March,” “The Godfather Trilogy,” “Edelweis,” “Over the Rainbow,” “Swanee” and other well-known favorites. The final selection will be “A Disney March Spectacular.” There is no charge for the concert; donations are appreciated.
