After a cocktail reception and gala dinner, attendees will move to the Boutell Memorial Concert Hall in the Music Building for a free concert of traditional and contemporary music at 8 p.m. Performances will include music professor Gregory Beyer and the NIU Percussion Studio on Burmese bronze drums; the The NIU Gamelan Ensemble; Thai classical and folk music by the Thai Cultural and Fine Arts Institute of Chicago, directed by NIU alumnus Chamni Sripraram; Balinese dance by Indonesian Dance of Illinois; music students Sarah Emily Lekberg and Andrew Voelker performing excerpts from a Filipino opera; and NIU alumna and award-winning Malaysian pop singer and songwriter Amirah Ali.
