Young philanthropists accepting grant applications
SYCAMORE – The Youth Engaged in Philanthropy (YEP) committee announced recently it is accepting grant applications for the 2013 Youth Engaged in Philanthropy Grants.
The YEP grants exist to improve the quality of life for youth in DeKalb County. To be eligible, projects must serve a youth-led initiative that directly involves DeKalb County youth in the development and implementation.
During the 2011-12 school year, YEP granted $12,186 to five organizations in DeKalb County.
Projects must fall in the categories of arts and culture, community development, education or health and human services. Applicants may request a maximum of $2,500 and are required to present their proposal to the YEP committee through a site visit or presentation at the March YEP meeting.
Grant applications should be postmarked or received at the DeKalb County Community Foundation office by 5 p.m. Feb. 1.
Youth Engaged in Philanthropy is a program of the DeKalb County Community Foundation that provides opportunities for youth from across DeKalb County to become engaged in their communities, learn about philanthropy, and develop leadership skills.
