Amanda Corral Named MAC Scholar-Athlete of the Week

Northern Illinois University’s Amanda Corral was named the Mid-American Conference Co-Female Scholar-Athlete of the Week on Dec. 18.

This marks the fifth time that a Huskie has won the honor this year, as MacKenzie Roddy (Oct. 4), Mike Mascitti (Nov. 15), Nabal Jefferson (Dec. 6) and Corral (Dec. 6) have all earned the award in 2012-13.

Corral led NIU's womens basketball team in scoring for the third straight game by netting a team-high 15 points against DePaul, adding team-highs of six rebounds and two assists as well. She also had two steals in 38 minutes of action. The scoring effort marked her third straight with 15 or more points as she is averaging 17.7 points per game over her last three contests. For the season, she upped her points per game average to 13.0 – three points above her freshman average from last season.
