Young runners learn the right way to train

SYCAMORE – The runners and coaches from Northern Illinois Athletics participated in a hands-on workshop provided by Moose(L)-Up Redemption Club (MURC) strength and conditioning coaches, focusing on dynamic warm-up and running drills.

NIA is a recently-formed, USA Track and Field-accredited cross-country and track and field club for school-aged athletes focused on developing self-confidence, athletic achievement and fun through competitive sports. Athletes in NIA have the opportunity to train and run in numerous events year-round, which is unique to DeKalb County.

Several of NIA’s athletes recently put their skills to work earning a trip to Albuquerque, N.M. for the USA Track and Field Junior Olympic National Championship.
