Goodwill donations earn Carson's coupons

DeKALB – Before you head to the mall in search of just the right gifts, dig out those sweaters you no longer wear or your children’s outgrown clothing and donate them during the holiday Goodwill Sale at Carson Pirie Scott, 2500 Sycamore Road in DeKalb.

For every item donated, shoppers will receive a 25 percent-off coupon to be used on apparel, footwear and accessories at any Bergner’s, Elder-Beerman or Carson’s store Dec. 6 through 11. Donated items will benefit Goodwill Industries of Northern Illinois’ job training programs.

Nearly 3.9 million pounds of clothing and textiles were collected and donated to Goodwill during the fall Goodwill Sale. The donated goods have an estimated value of $15 million to $17 million and support Goodwill’s job training programs, career services and other community-based programs for people with disabilities, those who lack education or job experience, and others facing challenges to finding employment.
