Art Box opens December exhibit
DeKALB - Dale Osterle, Chicago artist and longtime resident of DeKalb, will show original hand-painted, limited-edition intaglio prints at The Art Box in downtown DeKalb Dec. 1 through 28. The opening is scheduled from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 1. The exhibition is titled “... miles to go,” inspired by a poem by Robert Frost.
Osterle is originally from Boston, Mass., an environment of great beauty with rolling hills, huge and very old beautiful trees, woods and winding paths. She always knew that she was going to be an artist.
Her education in art began with very formal training at RISD, in Providence, R.I., where she earned a bachelor of fine arts degree; two years at Southern Connecticut State College for a teaching certificate; more than 20 years at Northern Illinois University with master printmaker David Driesbach; several summers studying in Florence, Italy and in the Loire Valley, France; and two artist residencies at Ragdale in Illinois. All provided exceptional training and background for what was to follow.
Osterle has exhibited both nationally and internationally for the last 35 years. Her work is and has been in galleries in numerous states, and currently is on display in juried exhibitions in New York, Chicago and Florida. She is a member of SAGA (Society of American Graphic Artists), NAWA (The National Association of Women Artists), deeply involved with the National and Chicago chapters as chapter president and member of the Women’s Caucus for Art, and is an honorary State of Illinois artisan. Her work is in major corporate collections such as McDonald’s, IBM, Reader’s Digest, Borg-Warner, Chubb Associates and TIAA-CREF. Also, her art has been hung in such prestigious halls as the United Nations, The Kennedy Center, The National Museum of Women in the Arts, The United Nations Conference in Beijing, China, and Yale University.
Many of Osterle’s intaglios are etched on copper plates and printed on acid-free Arches rag. Her landscapes that are more rectilinear in format are embellished with personal hand-painted passion depicting places she has lived and visited. These landscapes created an memorable impact on her life which she is able to share with an artistic expression.
