DeKALB – The Say It Out Loud mental health awareness campaign has scheduled Mental Health First Aid training from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays, Dec. 1 and 8. The 12-hour certification course teaches laypersons how to respond to a mental health emergency. It leads to a three-year certification that is nationally recognized.

While appropriate for all people, those with interests in the education, medicine, social services and mental health professions should know that employers are starting to note this qualification on resumes.

Registration is now open. You must attend both days to be certified. The cost is $25 and is paid on the first day via cash or check. The location is to be announced. To register, visit www.cedu.niu.edu/oep/events/registration.html.
