Seeking excellent educators
Nominations for the 2013 DeKalb County Excellence in Education Awards are due Friday, Nov. 23.
Nominations should be sent to the attention of the district superintendent of the nominee. Nomination forms can be found on the DeKalb County Community Foundation website, www.dekalbccf.org, at district superintendent offices and at the DeKalb County Regional Office of Education, 2500 N. Annie Glidden Road, Suite C in DeKalb.
The Excellence in Education Awards were established in 1999 by retired Sycamore elementary school teacher Yvonne Johnson with an endowment fund at the DeKalb County Community Foundation. The awards are to honor and acknowledge outstanding teachers, administrators and support staff from school districts throughout DeKalb County. Winners receive $1,000 and are recognized at a reception in March.
Nominees should be exceptionally skillful and dedicated teachers, administrators or support staff in a DeKalb County school planning to continue in an active teaching, administrative or support staff role. Nominations should be made without regard to age, sex, race, religion or educational position. Nominees should have the respect and admiration of students, parents and coworkers. They should play active and useful roles in their communities and schools, distinguishing themselves as a leader in their field of expertise. Their most important quality should be their ability to inspire a love of learning in students of all backgrounds and abilities.
Nominations will be reviewed by a joint committee of teachers and administrators. For more information, contact Becky Zantout at firstname.lastname@example.org or at 815-748-5383.
