Published: Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012 11:25 a.m. CDT

DeKALB – The Northwest Suburban Astronomers, in cooperation with the DeKalb County Forest Preserve District, will host a public star party on Saturday, Nov. 10, at Afton Forest Preserve.

This is the public’s opportunity to look at stars, galaxies, nebulae and star clusters with the help of NSA member telescopes.

Afton Forest Preserve is located at 13600 Crego Road,  about one mile east of Route 23 and one mile south of Perry Road.

Participants should bring warm clothing and a flashlight covered with red plastic or cellophane to preserve night vision.

The star party will begin at 6 p.m. Participants are welcome to bring their own telescope or binoculars. In the event of inclement weather the event will be canceled. There is no cost to attend and no registration is required.
