Library to remove trees
DeKALB – After a windy summer in which two trees fell down on library property, DeKalb Public Library Director Dee Coover hired a certified arborist to give all of the trees on the library property a “checkup.” The arborist has declared four trees should be removed from the property and recommended that the city of DeKalb remove other damaged or dead trees on the parkways surrounding the library.
The” picnic grove” west of the library parking lot will see two box elder trees and two Colorado blue spruces removed by the end of the fall. The box elders have seen significant damage as a result of summer storms and will not survive in their current condition. The Colorado blue spruce trees have fungi and must be removed.
Many trees on the library’s property are considered heritage trees. These trees are under the care of the arborist.
