Kids can audition for ugly duckling reprise

Published: Tuesday, Oct. 23, 2012 1:22 p.m. CDT

DeKALB – CCT’s Kids & Family show, “Honk!,” will tell the story of the ugly duckling, whose odd, gawky looks incite prejudice from his family and neighbors. Separated from the farm and pursued by a hungry cat, Ugly must find his way home. Along his rollicking and harrowing journey, he not only discovers his true beauty, but also finds love and acceptance.

“Honk!” received the 2000 Oliver Award for Best New Musical, beating out such heavyweights as “Mamma Mia!” and “The Lion King.” The production will be directed by Jeff Hall, and rehearsals will begin in December with performances in March.

Auditions for “Honk!” will be held Nov. 4 and 5. Those auditioning are required to be at least 7 years old. Performers should prepare an a capella song or nursery rhyme of their choice and will participate in an acting audition.

I'd go; it's easier than driving
No thanks; I don't want to ride to the game with a busload of strangers
