Downtown events take a seasonal shift

GENOA – The end of October sees the last of Genoa’s Open Air Markets as Genoa Main Street shifts into winter gear.

“The Open Air Market on Saturday, Oct. 27 will have a cool weather feel to it, even if we end up with a warm fall day,” said Mim Evans, Genoa Main Street executive director. “We are changing our lunch menu to feature cool weather favorites like chili. Main Street volunteers will have our holiday greenery on display and will be taking orders. All proceeds from the greenery sale go back into downtown for community events and improvement projects. Many of the vendors will bring great items for holiday gifts, beautiful and fun decorations for your home and foods for Thanksgiving or Christmas meals.”

After the October market, downtown merchants will transition to winter activities, like preparing for the Candlelight Open House on Thursday, Nov. 8. Luminaria, free refreshments and the latest holiday finds will fill downtown. The festivities begin at 5 p.m. and continue until the last guest goes home.
