Library benefits from Eagle project

GENOA – As part of his Eagle Scout project, Alex Stratton of Boy Scout Troop 2 in Sycamore led a group of volunteers in painting the back room of the Genoa Public Library.

Alex, a Genoa resident, is a senior at Illinois Math and Science Academy in Aurora. He approached the library about his Eagle project in the fall of 2011, and he and library director Jen Barton worked out the painting project.

With Alex living on IMSA’s campus during the school year, coordinating efforts was a modest challenge. Details were communicated by email, and the project was completed in July 2012. Alex directed a group of six boys and two adults in the actual painting process. He came back a few days later to hang shelves in the children’s area for LEGO Club displays.
