Firefighters wear pink in October

SYCAMORE – All on-duty Sycamore firefighters will wear special uniform T-shirts in October to show support for breast cancer awareness. These navy blue shirts feature the traditional pink ribbon and pink lettering of breast cancer awareness entwined with the Sycamore firefighters’ motto of "pride and honor."

This latest effort is another event in the charitable programs supported by the Sycamore Fire Department and Sycamore Firefighter’s Local 3046. In June, Sycamore firefighters championed breast cancer awareness by participating in Sycamore’s Ladies Night, where these men volunteered their time and their hugs in the Hug a Hunk booth. This event raised funds by selling hugs and those recognizable pink firefighter T-shirts.

Pink firefighter T-shirts can be purchased through the Sycamore Firefighter’s Local #3046 and annually during Sycamore’s Ladies’ Night and the DeKalb County Relay for Life.
