DeKALB – The Northern Illinois University homecoming parade will begin at 5:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 12, on Stadium Drive, and will end on Kishwaukee Drive with a bonfire open to the campus and community.
This year, parade viewers can vote by text for their favorite parade entry. The entry with the most votes will win the Viewers Choice Award. Awards for parade entries will be announced at the bonfire after the parade. The homecoming king and queen will also be announced at the bonfire.
The parade route begins on Stadium Drive and heads north to Lucinda Avenue. It then turns onto Russell Road, which it will follow to Hillcrest Drive. The parade will turn left onto Greenbrier Road, then will turn back onto Hillcrest Drive before turning left onto Blackhawk Road. The parade will then take Ridge Drive to Normal Road, then will march down Normal to Lucinda Avenue, where it will make a left and end at Kishwaukee Drive.
