Vocal group closes Music at the Homestead season
DeKALB – Music group Cymbal will present the final performance in this season’s Music at the Homestead series at the Joseph F. Glidden Homestead & Historical Center in DeKalb. The women’s vocal group will sing at 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14.
The homestead will be open for tours from noon until 4 p.m., and the on-site blacksmith shop will be open and operating. The concert will be held in the home’s backyard if weather permits or inside if it rains.
The Homestead is the site where Joseph Glidden invented and manufactured “The Winner” barbed wire, for which he received a patent on Nov. 24, 1874. The 1860s-era house and barn still stand on their original site, between Copy Service and Burger King on West Lincoln Highway in DeKalb.
