Students collect old shoes

DeKALB – Engineers Without Borders Student Chapter of Northern Illinois University will conduct “A Day Without Shoes” shoe drive from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 4.

All shoes, new and used, will be collected at Martin Luther King Commons at Northern Illinois University, between the Holmes Student Center and library on Normal Road.

The purpose of the shoe drive is to raise awareness about everyday necessities that are lacking in the developing areas of Africa. The shoes will be sent to needy children in Africa. All money raised helps the students of the chapter go on implementation trips to help improve a secondary school in Nyegina, Tanzania.
