ELBURN – A pig roast benefit is scheduled Saturday for a Sycamore woman who is fighting Hodgkin’s lymphoma and is in need of assistance in covering her medical expenses.

The benefit for Katie Meier, 31, is scheduled from 3 to 9 p.m. at the Elburn Lions Community Park, 500 Filmore St., Elburn.

The benefit will include face painting, inflatables for the kids, a silent auction and raffle. Stroker Red is scheduled to perform from 4:30 to 7 p.m.

Meier is in stage two of Hodgkin’s lymphoma, and has been through 12 cycles of chemotherapy and 18 days of radiation. She later learned she was not covered by her insurance provider for these expenses.

Meier was diagnosed with Hodgkins lymphoma in April 2011 and is in need of a bone marrow transplant.
