'Make' a new friend at market

GENOA – Visitors to Genoa’s Open Air Market on Sept. 22 may go home with a new friend. Genoa Main Street will provide everything needed to build your own scarecrow at the market, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the intersection of Main and Genoa streets in downtown Genoa.

“Building a scarecrow has become a popular tradition for many families,” said David Glaum, a Main Street volunteer helping to prepare wooden heads and frames.

“We not only supply the frames and heads, but also a selection of clothes and straw for stuffing. Most people build their scarecrow at the market, but you can also  take home all the parts and put it together there. The complete scarecrow is only $20. All proceeds benefit downtown improvements and public events.”
