DeKALB – Todd Vanatta, physical therapist at Northern Rehab Physical Therapy Specialists in DeKalb, has been certified as a Certified Functional Manual Therapist (CFMT) through The Institute of Physical Art. Testing included an intense four-day review and two days of written and hands-on practical testing. He tested with 26 other physical therapists from around the country.

The approach taught through the institute includes direct, hands-on treatment. Through kinesthetic training and neuromuscular facilitation techniques, it also focuses on improving efficient movement and function throughout any area of the body or with any activity. Home exercises are tailored to each individual to reinstate proper motor control or strategies for any activity. This approach also works well with performance enhancement for athletes or other individuals.
