Egyptian launches new member program

DeKALB – The Egyptian Theatre has launched new membership program, Friends of the Egyptian Theatre.

Friends of the Egyptian Theatre provide vital support to the ongoing operation and maintenance of the historic Egyptian Art Deco movie palace and performing arts center.

As a cultural 501(c)(3) nonprofit performing arts center, The Egyptian Theatre depends on memberships and donations to bring live theater and dance, educational events and community performances to DeKalb.

“Becoming a member of the Egyptian Theatre is a great way to not only support the theater but also for members to get the most out of their theater experience,” membership and marketing director Derek Gibbs said.

The new membership program features three levels. Each level offers benefits such as free or discounted concessions, advanced ticket purchase options and free movie tickets.

For $50, Bronze Members can buy advance tickets for select shows, receive coupons for discount concessions and receive a discount at participating downtown DeKalb restaurants. The Bronze membership is completely tax deductible.

Silver Members receive the same benefits as Bronze Members, plus four free movie tickets and half off popcorn purchases at every event. About $80 of the $100 membership is tax deductible.

Gold Members receive the same benefits as Bronze Members, plus two free tickets to every movie shown at The Egyptian, a free small popcorn at every event, free refills on popcorn, fountain drinks and coffee, free ticket exchanges and a free theater tour for the member and 10 guests. Gold membership is $250; about $150 of that is tax deductible.

The first 100 people to enroll in the Friends of the Egyptian Theatre program will receive a number plaque that was used to mark the original seats that were replaced last year. Each plaque will come with a certificate of authenticity.
