Education series explores life's journey

SYCAMORE – On Tuesday evenings, from Sept. 11 through Oct. 30, the Federated Church in Sycamore will hold a series of adult discussions called “Evensong.” Participants will explore their individual life journeys while sharing thoughts, experiences, doubts and current beliefs.  For the first session, each person is asked to bring an object, photo or memento that is representative of their life or special to them to share with the rest of the group.

Sessions will begin promptly at 6:46 p.m. and last no longer than two hours. Each session will have a theme and an advance project geared toward that theme. There will be a consistent order of service, including meditation and singing. The central event will be a sharing time in which participants will be asked to listen attentively to one another without interruption. This will provide a great way to get to know the other members of the group.

The series will be moderated by the Rev. Dennis Johnson and church members Gretchen and Charles Sigwart and Jerry Lane. There is no fee to participate in “Evensong,” and members of the community are welcome to attend. Interested individuals are asked to commit to the full eight-week series and should register by calling the church office at 815-895-2706 prior to the first session. You may also call the office for the list of weekly topics or if you have any questions.
