Grant to fight local drug use

DeKalb County Partnership for a Safe, Active & Family Environment, or DCP/SAFE, will receive $125,000 in grant funds from the Drug-Free Communities Support Program to prevent substance abuse among youth.

The funds are part of $7.9 million in grants the Office of the National Drug Control Policy has distributed to 60 communities across the nation. The grants were released at the same time as $76.7 million in continued funding to 608 currently funded coalitions and 18 mentoring coalitions.

The DFC Program provides grants of up to $625,000 over five years to community coalitions that facilitate citizen participation in local drug prevention efforts.
