Field Day checks on crop varieties in drought
SYCAMORE – Dave Drake vividly remembers the drought of 1988. It was his worst year of farming, a corn yield of 110 bushels per acre.
Flash forward to 2012 and another drought. This time, Drake is banking on a better crop, even though it won’t be up to his standard 200 bushels of corn per acre.
Drake and his son, Ben, are this year’s hosts for the DeKalb County Corn and Soybean Growers county plot and upcoming Field Day.
