Facebook votes can win Egyptian funds

DeKALB – Preservation of the Egyptian Theatre, a nonprofit working to restore and preserve DeKalb’s historic Egyptian Theatre and to bring exciting live theater and dance, educational events and community performances to DeKalb, is competing with charities nationwide for grants ranging from $10,000 to $250,000 from the Chase Community Giving program. Residents can help ensure their success by voting for The Egyptian Theatre through the Chase Community Giving program on Facebook.

Voting takes place Sept. 6 through 19. Each Facebook visitor will receive two votes. The 196 charities with the most votes will share in $5 million in grant funds.

Through social media networks, the Chase Community Giving program has already directed more than $20 million toward charities nationwide. Due to its popularity, the program is being continued this year, giving hundreds of additional charities, including The Egyptian Theatre, the opportunity to win grants to further their missions.
