Farming with steam

SYCAMORE – Months before the start of the annual Sycamore Steam Power Show and Threshing Bee, two retired couples at the Taylor Marshall farm east of Sycamore have made themselves at home on the grounds.

“We are semi-permanent residents here,” said Hugo Budzien. “Our son lives in San Diego and our daughter is in Rockford.” Budzien and his wife Pat live in their RV in California in the winter, and return to Illinois in the summer to live at the show grounds.

“But we usually don’t come back from California until the tornado season is over in the Midwest,” Budzien said.
