Municipal band wraps up season
DeKALB – The DeKalb Municipal Band closes its 158th season of summer band concerts with a final concert at 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 21, in the Hopkins Park band shell, with featured artist Maureen Christine.
Christine, a celebrated concert vocalist, national recording artist and composer, has delighted audiences throughout the country with her melodious, expressive voice. She was pre-nominated for a 2002 Grammy award alongside Harry Connick Jr. and Rosemary Clooney, and is heralded for her thoughtful interpretations of “great American standards,” romantic ballads and original compositions.
Christine has performed around the world from Germany to Chicago, appearing at prestigious concert halls, opera houses, cabaret and jazz clubs, festivals, colleges and historic landmarks, and has appeared at such prestigious venues as The Palmer House Hilton, The Pump Room of the Ambassador East Hotel, The Royal George Cabaret Theatre, the Green Mill Jazz Club, The Holiday Star Plaza Theater and the historic Woodstock and Oshkosh opera houses.
