DeKalb County tourism up nearly 10 percent
DeKALB – Visitor spending in DeKalb County was up 9.7 percent in 2011 over the previous year, according to revenue numbers recently released by the state.
Tourists spent more than $78.5 million in DeKalb County last year, according to the state. DeKalb County Convention & Visitors Bureau Executive Director Debbie Armstrong credited strong attendance at local attractions and a boost provided by the independent film “At Any Price,” which filmed in the county last summer.
“Our board is very happy with this increase in visitor spending,” Armstrong said. “This revenue is the highest that we have seen in the last 10 years.”
