Gibbs joins Egyptian staff

DeKALB – Fifteen years ago, he was a teenager performing with the Sycamore High School concert band on the stage of the Egyptian Theatre. Today, Derek Gibbs is the new membership and marketing director for the theater.

For the last three years Gibbs, a native of Sycamore and a 2001 graduate of Sycamore High School, has worked as the volunteer marketing and brand director for Feed’em Soup Community Project, a small grassroots project providing a pay-what-you-can afford restaurant-style meal in DeKalb. Through an aggressive approach to marketing and promotion, Gibbs has been one of the driving forces behind the project’s rapid growth in the DeKalb area.

Gibbs joined the team at the Egyptian Theatre Aug. 1 and is excited to start promoting the 2012-2013 season and a brand new membership campaign the theater will launch this fall.
