Beauty school celebrates the circus with Cirque Deb

DeKALB – On Saturday, July 14, some of the future graduates of Debutantes School of Cosmetology and Nail Technology entertained guests at the Cirque Deb Fashion Show. The show was held at Debutantes, 145 N. Third St. in DeKalb.

Under the big top, models walked the runway, displaying the work of eight graduating cosmetologists to a panel of judges. Brooke Johnson, Britt Lynn, Brisa Martinez, Marissa Reisner, Dina Kotnik, Valeria Cornejo, Lilia Calderon and Ali Haeffner used their models to display hairstyling techniques, makeup applications and fashion, each one with a different theme. From the lion tamer and her lion to the mime to the clown, each model illustrated coloring, weaving and styling in unique designs while displaying makeup variations on the face and body. Local retailer Cracker Jax helped in creating the looks.

Martinez and Calderon tied for third place, and Lynn won second place for her gypsy theme. Kotnik took first place for her woman on fire theme, displayed by her sister, whose hair blazed in red colors and face, neck and arm sparkled in red and gold glitter.
