How to photograph art work

DeKALB – Kishwaukee Valley Art League Vice President Jim Dester will present at the next meeting of the league, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, at the Unitarian Universalist church at the corner of North Fourth and Locust streets in DeKalb.

Dester will demonstrate ways to take photographs of paintings and other artwork, to teach artists how to make photographic representations of their work. League members and guests are invited to bring a piece of artwork they have had difficulty photographing.

Dester has more than 50 years of experience in photography. He holds a degree in industrial technology and spent 30 years in the printing and manufacturing of business forms. He now focuses on creating manipulated abstract photo images. Visitors to the Northern Illinois Art Show this year may remember seeing his booth. He uses digital photography, digital paint programs, HDR and digital scanners to create his unique style.
