Monsanto keeps Waterman kids reading

WATERMAN – Research shows that children who do not read during the summer can lose up to three months of reading progress. The Clinton Township Public Library is helping more children turn pages this summer with a $6,280 grant from the Monsanto Fund.

The Waterman Monsanto site nominated the library for the grant to help add to its book collection and continue to educate children.

“Waterman is a small community with limited opportunities for recreational and educational activities during the summer,” library director Nancy Radtke said. “During the library’s summer reading program children read for prizes, attend wonderful, fun-filled educational programs and participate in activities such as crafts and games.”
