DeKALB — The DeKalb-based indie alternative rock band Fue departs for its first national tour this week.

“I was ecstatic when I found out,” said Joanna Rutzky, the band’s lead singer, lyricist and keyboardist. “We have been hoping for a long time to be part of a national tour.”

Fue will be part of The Extreme Tour, a national cultural outreach project started in 1994 to use extreme sports and music to reach at-risk and counter culture youth. Fue will perform its original songs on the 30-city Heartland leg of the tour in the Midwest states. There are three legs of the tour in the United States, and one leg in Canada.
