Episcopalians honor patrons in joint service

SYCAMORE — The Episcopal Churches of Saint Peter in Sycamore, and Saint Paul in DeKalb, will join together in a unified service of worship to celebrate the Feast of Saint Peter and Saint
Paul the Apostles. This is the second annual service, and will be at 6 p.m., Thursday, June 28 at Saint Peter’s in Sycamore. All are welcome on this festive occasion.

The celebrant and preacher for the evening will be the Right Rev. Jeffrey Lee, Bishop of Chicago. Bishop Lee will also confirm 12 youth and adults from both congregations, as well as Saint Bride’s in Oregon, and Saint Luke’s in Dixon. In confirmation, those baptized at a young age or in other Christian traditions express a mature commitment to Christ, and receive strength from the Holy Spirit through prayer and laying-on of hands by a bishop.

In addition to the clergy of Saint Peter’s and Saint Paul’s, the Bishop will be assisted by the Rev. Steve Lowe, deacon from Saint Mark’s in Geneva.
